Art Shop, Exhibition & Event Space
The Gallery at Munro House is an independent gallery, art shop, exhibition and event space in Leeds; we exhibit and represent illustrators, designers, photographers and artists specialising in all types of media, including painting, print, sculpture and more…
Since opening in September 2011, the Gallery’s programme has included a diverse mix of work, and we have shown an eclectic range of artists and designers. Exhibitions have spanned many genres, from experimental installations to traditional painting, from printmaking to sculpture, from film and video to live performance.
Our focus over the past 5 years has been to support local arts and culture while also bringing artists and their work to the city from further afield.
Alongside our rolling, month-by-month exhibition programme, the Gallery is available to hire for exhibitions, corporate functions, launches, screenings, events and workshops.
Situated within the gallery, and operating under the same opening hours, the art shop sells sketchbooks, charcoal, paper and pencils. Basic drawing materials for those who like to scribble.
We also offer a student discount of 15%. It is currently a small selection of wares, but we’d be happy to order any specific items in for you – just ask!
Our in-house café is a fully licensed eat-in and take-away sandwich shop and espresso bar, selling an extensive selection of sandwiches, soup, salads and cakes; made in-house and sourced from specially selected local suppliers, including the famous ciabatta and focaccia sandwiches from the café’s sister shop near the University of Leeds – Bakery 164.
The café offers a range of speciality teas, coffee is direct trade and all milk is organic. Also available are a selection of beers and wine, as well as soft drinks and snacks. Vegan and Vegetarian options are widely available, and the café also offers catering.
