Birds with Birds
20 November 2017 - 17 February 2018
Alexandra Gallagher’s series ‘Birds with Birds’ explores femininity and sexuality and it’s confinement in modern day society.
Drawing on symbolism from different cultures, Gallagher creates an unconventional narrative centred around female empowerment, creating something beautiful from an idea rooted in a darker place.
About Alexandra Gallagher
Alexandra Gallagher is a British multidisciplinary artist; her work takes the form of collage, street art, prints, photography and painting.
Often working within a series, each piece is visceral and organic, the artist never knowing how each piece will transform.
Gallagher’s work celebrates the surreal and sublime. Between the realms of memory, dreams and experience, her work looks beyond our subjective limits and often tells a story of inner imagination and thought.
Exhibiting and selling internationally, including the world renowned Saatchi Gallery in London, she was shortlisted for the Zealous X and has been awarded the Saatchi Showdown Surrealism Second Place Winner and the Secret Art Prize Runner Up Winner 2016.
